Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 8, 2026
Qoin ("Qoin," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile app for iOS and Android that helps parents teach their kids real-world money skills. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Qoin, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
On-device data (never sent to us). Everything you create in Qoin — parent profile, child profiles, names or nicknames, age range, avatars, lessons read, quizzes completed, tasks assigned, proof submissions (text or images), reward amounts, and progress over time — is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. This data is never transmitted to Qoin, uploaded to our servers, or shared with any third party, and we have no ability to access it. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data permanently deletes this information.
Device & diagnostic data. The app uses platform-provided crash reporting and aggregated, anonymized usage analytics (e.g., screen views, taps, app version, OS version, device model, language). These signals are not linked to your identity and never include child profile content, names, photos, or proof submissions. You can disable analytics and personalized tracking via your device's privacy settings (iOS App Tracking Transparency, Android Ads ID controls).
Support communications. If you email our support team, we receive your message and email address solely to respond to your request.
2. Children's Privacy
Qoin is designed to be used by children under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. In line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K), the Apple App Store Review Guidelines (§1.3 and §5.1.4 — Kids Category), and the Google Play Families Policy, Qoin does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information from children on our servers. All child-related data lives exclusively on the parent's device and is fully controlled by the parent.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and we never request verifiable parental consent for server-side collection because no such collection occurs.
- Child profiles are created and controlled entirely by the parent account holder on their device.
- All child profile data, learning activity, task history, and proof submissions are stored only in local device storage and are never uploaded, synced, or backed up to Qoin servers.
- We do not display third-party advertising and we do not engage in any behavioral advertising, tracking, or profiling of children.
- No analytics SDK collects child profile content, names, photos, or proof submissions.
- Parents may review, edit, or permanently delete a child's profile and all associated data at any time from in-app settings; uninstalling the app also removes this data from the device.
3. How Information Is Used
- On-device data is used only by the app, on your device, to deliver the learning experience and track progress for your family.
- Anonymized diagnostic and usage data is used to fix crashes, improve performance, and prioritize new features.
- Support emails are used only to respond to your request.
4. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share child data with anyone. Limited sharing applies only to anonymized diagnostic data:
- Apple and Google receive crash and aggregated usage data through their platform tools, governed by their respective privacy policies.
- Legal & safety — we will disclose information we hold (which does not include your on-device family data) when required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of Qoin and its users.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.
5. Analytics & Tracking Choices
Qoin uses only privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, do not track users across other apps or websites, and do not show ads to children. On iOS you can opt out via App Tracking Transparency; on Android you can reset or limit your Advertising ID in system settings.
6. Data Retention
Because all family data lives on your device, you control retention: it stays until you delete a profile, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Aggregated diagnostic data is retained by Apple and Google according to their platform policies.
7. Security
Qoin relies on the security protections built into iOS and Android — including app sandboxing and OS-level encryption — to safeguard data stored on your device. Use a device passcode or biometric lock to keep your family's information private.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Because your family data never leaves your device, you have full control at all times. You can:
- View, edit, or delete any profile, lesson, task, or proof submission directly in the app.
- Permanently erase all Qoin data by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
- Disable analytics and limit ad tracking via your device's privacy settings.
- Contact us with any privacy question at support@getqoin.com.
9. Children's Privacy Summary
Qoin complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR (including GDPR-K), the Apple App Store Review Guidelines for Kids, and the Google Play Families Policy. Because no child data is ever transmitted off the device, Qoin does not need to — and does not — collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date and surface a notice within the app for material changes.
